Welcome Every Child is a community-wide program designed to provide pregnant women and families with support and education to help ensure a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby. The purpose of WEC is to "welcome" every new child into the community and to develop a sense of community through friendly, helping relationships.
WEC also provides referrals to other health and human services for families and offers health, education, and preventative information that families may utilize. Baskets are delivered to all expectant and newborn families regardless of race, education, or socioeconomic status. The basket contains a hand-crocheted baby blanket and a multitude of supplies for the newborn baby. An educational packet is also given that describes other community services and support activities that the family may access, as well as materials about growth and development.
